Jason Hudson - President
Jason is currently the Social Studies Department Head at Mount Boucherie Secondary in West Kelowna where he teaches Geography 12, Holocaust 12, Social Justice 12, and Social Studies 11. Jason joined COSSTA in 2005 to facilitate the expansion of professional development opportunities for teachers in the Central Okanagan. It is his goal to create a strong, integrated, professional community to support Social Studies teachers in the Okanagan and throughout the province. |
Derek Smith - Vice President
Derek teaches Asian Studies 12, and Canadian Studies for International Students at Mt. Boucherie Secondary. He is also the coordinator for the Global & Intercultural Skills Diploma program and is the UNESCO lead teacher for MBSS. In addition to serving on the COSSTA executive, Derek has been a member of the BCSSTA executive since 2011. He is interested in helping to ensure that all Social Studies teachers have access to relevant Professional Development opportunities. |
Ryan Holly - Secretary-Treasurer
Ryan teaches Social Studies 10, 20th Century World History 12, and Genocide Studies 12 at Kelowna Secondary School. He is passionate about all things Social Studies, and has been involved with the COSSTA since 2009. He has also served as a Member at Large on the executive committee of the British Columbia Social Studies Teachers' Association since 2010. He loves all history, but finds the 19th and 20th centuries particularly fascinating. |
Graeme Stacey - Past President
Graeme is in the Social Studies Department at Kelowna Secondary School. He teaches Genocide 12, Holocaust 12, World History 12 and Social Studies 10. Graeme was motivated to become involved with the BCSSTA and with COSSTA because he wanted to be a part of a group with an interest in Social Studies at the provincial and district level, to network and collaborate with like-minded colleagues, and to pass along pertinent information and opportunities to Social Studies teachers across the province. |
Cole Gallo - Member at Large
Cole is a beginning teacher currently working at Kelowna Secondary School. He is passionate about Social Studies, in particular the fields of Post-WW2 European History and Sociology. He took multiple courses in both on his path to majoring in History at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Cole is new on the COSSTA executive and is very excited to collaborate with his colleagues to find more efficient and effective ways to teach Social Studies.
